What defines the La Clara pearls?

We use hand-selected freshwater pearls, chosen for their near-round shape and smooth, high-luster finish. Only around 2% of freshwater pearls reach this symmetry, setting them apart from more common, irregular shapes.

How does La Clara differ from conventional pearl jewellery?

La Clara focuses on structure and clean lines. We use near-round freshwater pearls to create balanced silhouettes. Each piece is designed to feel lightweight and modern, moving away from heavy traditional ornamentation.

What is the distinction between Freshwater and Saltwater pearls?

It comes down to where they are grown. Freshwater pearls are cultivated in lakes and rivers, while Saltwater pearls, like Akoya or Tahitian, are grow in ocean oysters.

Are all freshwater pearls of equal quality?

No. Most freshwater pearls have irregular shapes. Near-round pearls, like those in the La Clara collection, make up a very small fraction of the harvest, selected for their symmetry and the way they catch the light.

Why do you say near-round rather than perfectly round?

Because no natural freshwater pearl is ever completely, perfectly spherical. Calling them near-round is simply accurate. It reflects their organic growth while highlighting that they are among the most symmetrical freshwater pearls available.

Should the surface of my pearl be perfectly smooth?

As organic gems, no natural pearl is completely smooth. When looking closely, you may notice:

Subtle textures: Gentle ridges or small surface marks formed as the pearl grows.
Natural variation: Unlike synthetic beads, these small details show the pearl is genuine.
Nacre depth: Because La Clara pearls are composed of solid nacre, these surface details reflect the gem’s density and durability.
