La Clara focuses on structure and clean lines. We use near-round freshwater pearls to create balanced silhouettes. Each piece is designed to feel lightweight and modern, moving away from heavy traditional ornamentation.
It comes down to where they are grown. Freshwater pearls are cultivated in lakes and rivers, while Saltwater pearls, like Akoya or Tahitian, are grow in ocean oysters.
No. Most freshwater pearls have irregular shapes. Near-round pearls, like those in the La Clara collection, make up a very small fraction of the harvest, selected for their symmetry and the way they catch the light.
Because no natural freshwater pearl is ever completely, perfectly spherical. Calling them near-round is simply accurate. It reflects their organic growth while highlighting that they are among the most symmetrical freshwater pearls available.
As organic gems, no natural pearl is completely smooth. When looking closely, you may notice:
