CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
Wearing
Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising, or performing household chores. Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and cleaning products. Put on jewellery last when getting dressed and take it off first when undressing to minimise friction. Handle pieces gently and avoid dropping or knocking them against hard surfaces.
Storage
Store jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Use soft pouches, individual compartments, or lined jewellery boxes to prevent scratches and tangling. Keep pieces separate from other jewellery, especially harder metals, to avoid abrasion. Avoid storing jewellery in bathrooms or humid areas, as moisture can speed up tarnishing.
Cleaning
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and dirt. Avoid abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, and ultrasonic cleaners.
Additional Tips
Avoid wearing jewellery in extreme temperatures, including saunas or hot tubs, as heat can affect the finish. Keep jewellery away from household chemicals such as bleach or ammonia, and immediately dry any pieces that get wet. Prolonged exposure to cosmetics, oils, or acidic substances can cause discoloration or wear, so it’s best to remove jewellery beforehand.

NECKLACES & BRACELETS

General
Never tug or stretch your necklace and bracelet, as it can weaken or damage the links. Keep your necklace away from perfumes, lotions, and chlorine to preserve its shine and finish. Keep it in a soft pouch or box to avoid scratches and damage.
Stretching
Necklaces, especially fine chains, are delicate and should not be pulled or stretched. Always handle your necklace gently and avoid tugging on it. Excessive force can cause the links to elongate, weakening the structure of the chain.
Knots
If your necklace gets tangled or knotted, take your time to gently work out the knots with your fingers or a fine needle. Avoid pulling or yanking on the chain, as this can cause breakage or damage to the links. To prevent future knots, store necklaces securely.
Cleaning
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils and dirt.
Earrings

General care
Be careful not to pull or stretch earring wires or posts. For stud earrings, make sure the backings are securely fastened to avoid losing them. For hoop or dangling earrings, avoid bending or distorting the design. Store your earrings separately to prevent tangling or damage. Avoid storing them in piles or with other jewellery that may cause scratches.
Butterfly backing
To ensure your earrings stay in place, make sure the backing is pushed all the way onto the post. If it feels loose or the earring moves, you may need to adjust the backing by gently pinching the two sides of the backing together with your fingers to make it slightly tighter.
When hoops don't click in
All our hoops are designed to click securely into place. If your earring doesn’t click, it may be due to slight misalignment of the post or debris blocking the post hole. Try gently cleaning the post and the hole to remove any debris. Once clear, the hoop should click easily for a secure fit.
Cleaning
Wipe earrings gently with a soft cloth after each wear.
RINGS

General Care
Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals such as cleaning products, perfumes, and chlorinated water. Remove your ring before activities that could cause impacts, scratches, or abrasion. Store it separately in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent scratches and tangling with other pieces.
Cleaning
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils, dirt, and residue. For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a mild, non-abrasive soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely with a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners or harsh polishing compounds, as these can wear down the gold plating.
Wearing Tips
Apply lotions, perfumes, and cosmetics before putting on your ring. Remove your ring when washing hands, swimming, exercising, or doing household chores. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or extreme heat, which may affect the plating over time.
Long-Term Care
Rotate your jewellery to reduce wear on any single piece. Keep your pieces away from prolonged moisture and humidity, which can accelerate tarnishing. Avoid storing your jewellery in direct sunlight or near heat sources. If your gold vermeil begins to show signs of wear, a professional jeweller can re-plate it to restore its finish.
