The Solitaire Collection takes its name from solitarius, the Latin origin of solitaire: singular, undisturbed, complete in itself.

The Diamond Guide

Every diamond we use is a premium lab-grown diamond, selected for its brightness and clarity.

Like mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds are graded using the internationally recognised 4 Cs: Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat. Knowing how each one is classified makes it easier to compare stones and choose the right fit.

Cut

Cut refers to the precision, alignment, and polish of a diamond’s facets. It dictates how light enters the stone and reflects back to the eye, rather than referring to the raw shape of the stone itself.

What are the most prized cut grades?
The most prized diamonds are those graded Excellent. This grade represents the highest level of cutting precision, where the facet angles and symmetry align perfectly to reflect light with absolute efficiency, preventing any dullness or leakage.

Does cut matter more than carat size?
A diamond’s appearance on the skin relies on the balance of all 4 Cs, with cut playing the most critical role. For a round cut diamond, we select precise, well-proportioned cuts that maximize the surface diameter and light return. This ensures that even smaller, more delicate weights appear clean, distinct, and bright.

Cut

Colour

Colour measures the natural tint present within a white diamond. The industry standard scale established by the GIA runs alphabetically from D, representing completely colourless, down to Z, which indicates a noticeable light yellow or brown tint.

What are the most valuable colour grades?
The most valuable diamonds are graded D, E and F. These are colourless stones with no trace of tint, which lets them reflect light as cleanly as possible.

What is the impact?
Small shifts in colour tone change how bright a diamond looks once it is set. Colourless stones are the rarest, but the difference between colourless and near-colourless grades (G-H) is very hard to see with the naked eye when worn, which makes them a practical choice for everyday jewellery.

Our Essential Diamonds are F-G colour for a clean, bright appearance. Our Solitaire Diamonds are D colour, the highest grade on the scale.

Clarity

Clarity evaluates the internal characteristics (inclusions) and surface markings (blemishes) created during the diamond's growth process. The scale ranges from Flawless (FL) down to Included (I3).

What are the most valuable clarity grades?
The most valuable grades are Flawless (FL) and Internally Flawless (IF). A Flawless stone has no inclusions or blemishes under 10x magnification, while an Internally Flawless stone has no inclusions and, at most, very minor surface blemishes.

Just below these sit the VVS grades (Very, Very Slightly Included). Their internal characteristics are microscopic, so a VVS stone looks clean to the naked eye. That makes it a practical choice for high-quality everyday wear.

What is the impact?
Clarity affects how clean a diamond looks. Our Essential Diamonds are graded VVS and our Solitaire Diamonds are graded VVS1, so any internal characteristics are microscopic and cannot be seen without magnification. The diamond stays clear and free of visible imperfections in daily wear.

Carat

Carat (abbreviated as 'ct') measures a diamond's physical weight rather than its visual diameter. One carat is equal to exactly 200 milligrams. While carat weight influences value, two diamonds of the exact same weight can look completely different depending on their proportions.

Does carat size matter?
Carat weight tells you how much a stone weighs, but the cut determines how it appears on the skin. A precise, well-proportioned cut maximises surface diameter and light return, so even a smaller stone looks clean, bright and distinct. Our Essential Diamonds are 0.2 ct and our Solitaire Diamonds are 0.5 ct, each cut to show its best brightness when worn.

What are the benefits of a bezel set lab-grown diamond jewellery?

The continuous gold rim encloses the 0.50 ct Round Brilliant lab-grown diamond to protect its outer edges from daily contact and accidental knocks. By covering the rim instead of leaving it exposed, it eliminates sharp edges that catch on clothing and creates a smooth profile that sits comfortably against the skin.

Visually, the gold border frames the diamond cleanly and extends its visible profile slightly beyond the stone's physical edge, giving the piece a distinct, grounded presence on the skin without needing a larger carat weight.

Why is the back of the setting cast solid instead of hollowed out?

Many settings are hollowed out underneath to save on metal weight. We cast ours completely solid, because we believe the part that touches your skin should be considered too.

Rather than hollowing out the setting to reduce the amount of gold used, we cast it completely solid and finish the back with the same smooth, rounded surface as the front. This gives the piece a satisfying sense of weight and keeps the underside clean, without sharp edges or recessed spaces against the skin.

It also means there is nowhere for dust and residue to collect around the back of the stone, helping to keep the diamond looking clear and bright.

It’s a small design decision, but one you notice in the way the piece feels: smooth, balanced and considered from every angle.

What are the diamond specifications for this collection?

Each piece uses an IGI certified 0.50 ct Round Brilliant lab-grown diamond rated D in colour and VVS1 in clarity. This guarantees clean light reflection and diamond purity, backed by independent gemological certification.

Can I wear these pieces in the shower or while swimming?

We recommend taking your pieces off before showering or swimming. While solid 9k Gold and lab-grown diamonds are durable, soap, lotions, oils and chlorine can build up on the gold and diamond, affecting the finish and reducing the stone’s natural brilliance.

For the best long-term appearance, put your jewellery on after applying skincare and take it off before swimming or showering. A quick wipe with a soft, clean cloth after wear will help keep the gold smooth and the diamond bright.
