The Making of La Clara

The La Clara collection is defined by a refusal to settle for the industry standard. While most jewellery is appreciated for its surface-level beauty, these pieces are a study in the "unseen"—the rigorous filtration of materials, the architectural rationale of the design, and the technical engineering of light.

Below, we share the three-phase journey of how this modern pearl jewellery collection came to life.

Phase I: The Pursuit of Symmetry

The silhouette of a La Clara pearl is a statistical rarity.

In the world of freshwater pearls, nature typically expresses itself through the irregular—the organic baroque pearls and "potato" shapes that define much of the industry. While we admire that untamed beauty, La Clara required a more disciplined geometry.

We bypass thousands of pearls to curate only the rare exception: the near-round pearl. Accounting for just 2-5% of the yield, these elusive gems are the only ones possessing the near-perfect axial symmetry required for our architectural aesthetic.

This precision is what creates the collection’s signature "lit-from-within" glow. Because the surface is so balanced, light travels evenly across the pearl rather than scattering, resulting in a deep, luminous lustre. It is a refined, statistical rarity—a deliberate choice for a silhouette that is balanced, intentional, and rare.

Phase II: The Design Rationale

The design of La Clara is a dialogue between the softness of the pearl and the precision of the frame.

The Honeycomb

Our signature geometric honeycomb motif is integrated throughout the collection. This acts as a structural anchor, grounding the fluid beauty of the pearls so they feel modern and architectural.

A Prism for the Pearl

In some designs, we specifically paired these pearls with natural white topaz to act as a crystalline prism. Positioned to capture high-intensity light, the topaz illuminates the pearl’s natural glow, ensuring the jewellery catches the light with every movement.

360-Degree Intent

For the La Clara Pearl Station Necklace and Bracelet, the honeycomb cells are meticulously polished even on the reverse. We designed this ensuring the piece remains a finished, sophisticated detail even if it flips on the wrist or neck.

Phase III: The Engineering

A luxury piece is defined by its longevity and experience. The final phase of our process is dedicated to the technical integrity that transforms a design into a daily uniform.

Tension and Tolerance

As with all our drop earrings, we designed the La Clara Pearl Earrings with a clean vertical drop guided by gravity. Because our modular pearls are designed to be removed, we focused on the mechanical tolerance of the bail. We engineered the interior diameter of the pearl’s connector to have a specific friction fit; wide enough to slide smoothly over the hoops, yet snug enough to prevent unwanted sliding while worn.

The Debut of Silver

La Clara marks the anticipated debut of our Rhodium-plated Sterling Silver finish. To ensure a cool-toned, ultra-bright lustre, we have plated our silver with Rhodium—a rare, precious metal from the platinum family.

Many brands bypass Rhodium plating to reduce production costs, leaving silver prone to rapid tarnishing and a duller grey finish. By choosing Rhodium, we provide a protective shield that increases durability, prevents oxidation, and maintains that crisp, "liquid-silver" brilliance.

The Gold Standard

For those who prefer warmth, our 18K gold pieces feature six layers of precision plating (1 micron thick). This is significantly deeper than industry standards, ensuring a rich, honey-hued glow that stands the test of time.

A New Daily Uniform

Ultimately, La Clara moves beyond the idea that pearls should be reserved for a ‘someday’ that rarely arrives. We obsessed over the design, the biological rarity, and the architectural balance — so only the experience remains.

These are pieces designed for the beauty of the now. Whether it is the rhythmic light of the Station Necklace or the modular versatility of the our Pearl Drop Hoops, La Clara is an invitation to embrace a more refined, intentional approach to the everyday.

It is time to wear the pearls.

A Note on Your La Clara Pearls

Because Pearls are gems are grown organically, they are never "perfect". You may notice subtle surface variations or gentle beauty marks; these are not flaws, but the authentic fingerprints of the sea that make your piece singular and authentic as you are.
